Housed in a stunning former girls' high school, this museum is world-famed for holding the 'Gold of Varna.' The Roman Thermae

These are the ruins of the Roman public baths of ancient Odessos. Built in the late 2nd century, they are the largest ancient edifice in Bulgaria and the 4th largest Roman baths in Europe. You can still walk through the complex system of cold (frigidarium), warm (tepidarium), and hot (calidarium) rooms that once served as the city's social hub.

A medieval cave monastery carved into a limestone cliff
Aladzha Monastery

Located just north of the city in a lush forest, Aladzha is a medieval Orthodox cave monastery complex. The monks hewed their cells, kitchens, and churches directly into a 25-meter-high vertical karst cliff. It remains one of the most mysterious spiritual sites on the Black Sea, complete with colorful faded murals and ancient legends.
